Privacy Policy

The short version

4thCoach is a sports-clip review app. We collect the video clips you send for analysis (including any audio captured by your camera), the account you sign in with, and basic usage events that help us understand which features land. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and you can delete your account and everything tied to it from inside the app at any time.

Who we are

4thCoach ("we," "us") is a product of 4TH COACH TECHNOLOGY COMPANY, a Michigan corporation (Michigan entity ID 900256917). 4TH COACH TECHNOLOGY COMPANY is the data controller for the information described in this policy, and is the successor to 4TH COACH, LLC (Michigan entity ID 900254756), which converted to this corporation on August 3, 2026. The app is built by one person in Michigan, USA.

What we collect

Account information

• Email address and authentication identifier — when you sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password. Stored in Firebase Authentication and tied to your 4thCoach account.
• Display name or handle — only if you provide it.

The clips you submit

• Video files — every clip you record or import is uploaded to our backend, run through an AI coaching model, and stored in Firebase Storage scoped to your account. Audio captured by the camera is part of the video file.
• Analysis output — the findings, transcripts, and any audio walkthroughs generated for each clip. Stored in Firestore alongside the clip.
• Dictated feedback — if you use the microphone to dictate feedback instead of typing, the speech is transcribed with Apple's speech recognition, which may process the audio on Apple's servers under Apple's privacy terms. We receive and store only the resulting text, never the recording.
• Player profiles — the names and attributes (role, sport, handedness) you assign to clips, for grouping in your library.

Body position and image data

Because the whole product is movement coaching, 4thCoach measures bodies. We want to be specific about what that means, since "the app analyzes your kid's body" deserves a real answer rather than a reassuring sentence.

• Skeleton positions — before a clip is uploaded, your device locates up to 15 body points (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, plus the nose and neck as posture reference points) in each sampled frame. This runs on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. The resulting list of coordinates is sent with the clip so we can find the moment of the action and describe the mechanics.
• Derived measurements we keep — from those coordinates we compute and store joint angles, peak joint speeds, left/right symmetry, balance, the sequence in which body segments fire, and limb-length ratios. These are stored per athlete profile so we can show progress across clips. The raw frame-by-frame coordinates are used during analysis and are not stored in your clip record.
• Image-similarity vectors — to suggest which athlete is in a new clip, your device computes a numeric fingerprint of a few frames and compares it against ones it already has. These vectors never leave your device.They are cached in the app's own storage and are deleted when you delete the app. Only the resulting confidence score is sent to us, never the fingerprint.

We do not run face recognition. We do not attempt to identify anyone, match a person across different accounts, or estimate anyone's age, weight, body composition, or health from a clip. The measurements above describe how a movement was performed; they are not used to characterize a body, and they are never sold or shared for advertising.

Some jurisdictions treat body-geometry measurements as biometric data. Whether or not that classification applies to us, the account holder who uploads a clip is responsible for having the right to film the people in it, and can delete any clip — and everything derived from it — at any time.

Usage and diagnostics

• Product analytics events — actions like "clip recorded," "finding opened," "audio played." We use these to understand what's working. Tied to your 4thCoach account via your user ID.
• Crash and performance data — collected via Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix what breaks. Tied to your 4thCoach account via your user ID while you're signed in, so we can trace a crash you report back to what actually happened.
• App version, OS version, device model — standard telemetry. We do not collect the IDFA or any other persistent advertising identifier, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

What we do with it

• Run the coaching analysis you asked for, and store the result so you can come back to it.
• Surface trends across your clips (recurring findings, recent activity).
• Improve 4thCoach — fix bugs, understand which features are useful, prioritize what to build next.
• Communicate with you about your account if there's something important (a security issue, a major change).

We do not sell your data. We do not share your clips with advertisers. We do not train third-party models on your clips beyond what's strictly required to run the analysis itself (the clip goes to Google's enterprise Vertex AI platform, not the consumer Gemini app or API; Google's enterprise processing terms apply to that leg, and no clip is used to train their public models).

Who processes data on our behalf

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics) — our infrastructure provider.
• Google Vertex AI (Gemini) — the AI model that generates the coaching analysis. Clips are sent to Google's enterprise Vertex AI platform — not the consumer Gemini app or API — for the duration of each analysis call; Vertex's enterprise terms are what guarantee your clip is never used to train Google's public models.
• Anthropic (Claude) — a second AI model that automatically double-checks the coaching findings Gemini generates, before they're saved. Once per analysis, we send Claude the findings write-up — the text describing what the model saw and why, derived from your clip — so it can score whether each finding is actually backed by evidence. Claude never sees the video itself, and it's never told your child's name. Per Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data isn't used to train their models.
• Apple — payment processing if you subscribe inside the iOS app (in-app purchase). Apple bills your Apple account and sends us signed transaction records; we never see your payment details.
• Stripe — payment processing if you subscribe through our website. Your card details go straight to Stripe's own hosted checkout page; our servers never see or store them.
• Human quality review — to check and improve the AI coaching, small samples of clips and their findings may be reviewed by our team or by vetted coaching reviewers under confidentiality obligations. Reviewers see the clip, its analysis, and the player's age band and skill tier — never names, emails, or contact details. Every internal access to a clip is logged.
• Resend — delivers our transactional emails (welcome, billing, and progress emails). Receives your email address and name.
• Apple App Store — app distribution.

How long we keep it

Clip videos are automatically deleted 180 days after upload. Because 4thCoach often records video of young athletes, we don't hold that footage indefinitely — when a clip reaches 180 days, its video and audio walkthrough are removed for you automatically. Your coaching results — the findings, your progress trends, and a single still-frame thumbnail — are kept until you delete the clip or your account, so your history stays intact after the video expires. Save any video you want to keep before then.

Your account itself (email, sign-in record, player profiles) is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account from inside the app, we remove your authentication record, your Firestore documents, and your Storage objects — usually within a minute; if any step fails, the app tells you and your sign-in stays active so you can retry. Aggregate analytics persist beyond deletion, along with a small number of safety and audit records (for example, safety reports you filed and internal access logs) that we retain for trust-and-safety purposes.

Your choices

• Delete your account from the account menu → "Delete account" inside the app. Deletes authentication, clips, analyses, and player profiles.
• Turn off usage analytics with Account → Privacy → "Share usage data" in the app. This stops the product-analytics events described above and the automatic app-lifecycle events our analytics SDK collects on its own. Crash reporting stays on so we can still fix what breaks.
• Take back your AI analysis consent with Account → Privacy → "Reset AI analysis consent." You'll be asked again, by name, before the next clip is analyzed.
• Revoke camera, microphone, or photo-library access in iOS Settings. Features that need them will tell you what's missing.
• Email us at bryan@4thcoach.com for any access, correction, or deletion request we haven't built into the app yet.

Children

4thCoach accounts are for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create a 4thCoach account, and we don't knowingly create accounts for anyone who tells us they're younger. 4thCoach is built for parents, guardians, and coaches to record and review video of young athletes in their care — those athletes don't create their own accounts, sign in, or interact with 4thCoach directly; they're profiles managed entirely by the adult account holder, who is responsible for anyone who appears in the clips they upload.

If you're a parent or guardian and believe a minor has somehow created their own 4thCoach account, email us and we will delete it.

If your child appears in someone's clips

This is the situation that matters most here, and it doesn't require you to have a 4thCoach account. If your child was filmed by another parent, a coach, or a teammate's family, you can ask us to delete that footage and everything derived from it. Email bryan@4thcoach.com with enough detail to find it — roughly when and where it was filmed, and who you believe uploaded it. We'll act on the request even though you aren't the account holder, and we won't require you to prove a legal relationship beyond a plausible account of it.

What a young athlete in a clip never gets: an account, a login, a profile anyone else can browse, a message from us, or an ability to be found by another user. There is no feed, no comments, no search for people, and no public directory. A clip is never visible to other users unless the account holder deliberately creates a share link; beyond that, the only other access is the logged internal support access and human quality review described in "Who processes data on our behalf."

What we do hold about them: the first name or nickname the account holder typed, the sport and position assigned to them, the clips themselves for up to 180 days, and the movement measurements described above. We don't ask for or store a young athlete's birthdate, contact information, school, team affiliation, or location.

Clip video is deleted automatically after 180 days — see the Data Retention Policy for the full schedule, and the Information Security Program for how that data is protected in the meantime.

Security

Clips are transmitted over TLS, stored in Firebase Storage scoped to your account, and gated by per-user access rules. We rotate credentials, review access regularly, and limit which team members can read user data (currently a short allowlist).

Our written Information Security Program names the owner, the risks it addresses, the safeguards in place, how they're tested, and the gaps we know about.

International users

4thCoach is operated from the United States. By using 4thCoach you consent to your data being processed in the U.S. and any region where Google Firebase operates.

Changes

We'll update this page when material changes happen. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the most recent change. If a change affects what we collect or how we use it in a way that materially expands data use, we'll let you know inside the app before the change takes effect.
